Lexington sees its highest daily COVID-19 case count ever, health department says

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reported 494 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, which crushed the city’s record for most cases reported in a single day.

The previous record, which was set more than one year ago, was 451.

Lexington’s seven-day rolling average is now up to 247, which is 36 more cases than Tuesday’s average.

Lexington has reported 57,169 cases of coronavirus and 476-related deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020, according to LFCHD.

Gov. Andy Beshear reported 4,297 cases statewide Tuesday afternoon. The positivity rate also jumped to 12.61%, up nearly one full percentage point from Monday.
