Homeowner injured after car crashes into house on Liberty Road

A homeowner was injured after a car crashed into their house early Monday morning, according to Lexington police.

Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of Liberty Road at 3:17 a.m. for a report of a vehicle crashing into a residence.

The homeowner of the residence was inside the house at the time of the accident, police said. They suffered minor injuries but weren’t transferred to the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle told officers they fell asleep at the wheel, which led to the driver swerving off the road and into the house, per police. Criminal charges are not expected to be pressed.

There’s no indication that hazardous or slick conditions on the road were a factor in the accident, according to police.

The Lexington Fire Department also responded to the scene, per police. Firefighters helped reconstruct the home and cleared it for structural integrity.
