Man who died in Clay Avenue house fire identified by Fayette County coroner

The Fayette County Coroner has identified the victim from last Thursday’s house fire on Clay Avenue.

Mark Greenwell, 60, was killed in last week’s fire. His remains were found in the crawl space underneath the main floor that was burned out from the fire.

The manner of his death is still pending autopsy results.

The fire sparked sometime Thursday morning and when firefighters arrived, they spotted heavy fire conditions.

Several hand lines were pulled and firefighters fought the blaze from inside the structure until it was extinguished. Once the fire was out, firefighters began investigating and found human remains.
