Two people sent to hospital after serious accident on Versailles Road

Two people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning as a result of a serious crash on Versailles Road, according to Lexington police.

The accident was reported around 7:45 a.m. Thursday. Eyewitnesses told police a driver of a Honda Accord was traveling outbound on Versailles Road near New Circle Road when it turned left abruptly, getting in the path of a Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus t-boned the passenger side of the Honda Accord, per police.

Both drivers were sent to the hospital. Police said they didn’t know the medical condition of the drivers but classified the injuries to the driver of the Honda Accord as very serious.

The collision reconstruction unit was on scene investigating and will be doing so for an unknown amount of time, police said. Inbound traffic on Versailles Road is being diverted to New Circle Road until the roadway gets reopened.

The left turn lane onto New Circle Road from the outbound lane is also shut down.
