Father Jim Sichko, a missionary of mercy commissioned by Pope Francis and priest with the Diocese of Lexington, said he has helped pay for the expenses surrounding the funeral of Landon Hayes, the 10-year-old boy who was killed last Sunday.

The funeral will cost roughly $5,000, according to FOX 56. $2,000 of it will be covered by community donations while Sichko will cover the rest, per FOX 56.

Hayes’ death is being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to Lexington police. Tyrus Lathem, 22, also died in the shooting.

Hayes was described as a kid with “a beautiful smile and contagious laugh” by Ashland Elementary Principal John Moore, where Hayes attended school.

According to WTVQ, funeral services for Hayes will be held at Greater Liberty Baptist Church on Chestnut St. in Lexington on Saturday. The visitation is at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m.
