Rupp Arena and Central Bank Center will no longer accept cash for parking and concessions starting March 4.

Cash will continue to be accepted at the various Central Bank Center box offices and at artist merchandise stands.

The cashless parking and concessions applies to Rupp Arena, the convention center and the Lexington Opera House.

The complex will take all major credit cards and mobile payments such as Google, Apple and Samsung Pay, Central Bank Center officials said.

People can also prepay for parking when they purchase tickets to major events through Ticketmaster.

Those who’ve already purchased tickets to upcoming events will have the opportunity to add parking as a separate purchase. There are limited spaces available.

Central Bank Center officials said the move to cashless parking and concessions will help streamline operations. Digital purchases became much more common during the coronavirus pandemic.

“With new digital payment options, Central Bank Center patrons will enjoy more time watching the show and less time waiting in line,” said Brian Sipe, general manager of Central Bank Center.

The first event to go cashless will be the performance of comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias on March 4.
