Where have you hit a pothole around Lexington? We asked, you answered

Last week, the Herald-Leader published a survey asking readers to tell us where they find potholes around Lexington and what they think are the best and worst roads in the area.

The city offers multiple means of reporting potholes and other hazardous road complaints, and an official said Lexington attempts to fill reported potholes within two business days.

The city and state did a number of pothole repairs earlier this year after winter weather damaged roadways.

How can you report potholes and other roadway concerns in Lexington?

The city of Lexington offers multiple avenues through which you can report potholes and other roadway concerns.

You can call LexCall 311 for assistance with non-emergency issues such as potholes, garbage collection, trash and debris, street signs and more. There is a “language line” available for those who speak languages other than English. Dial 311 or 859-425-2255 to reach LexCall.

You can also submit a service request through the city’s online system, where you’ll be asked to select, describe and provide the address or location of the issue. There is a text box where you can describe the location if you don’t know the exact address.

After submitting the request, you’ll be provided with a service request number, which you can use to check for status updates. The city’s website says the streets and roads department makes every effort to repair reported potholes within 48 business hours.

You can check the service request map to see other reports made in the last 30 days and their category, date, request number, address and division.

Another way to report concerns in Lexington is through the free LexCall app, which is available for Apple and Android users. You can use the app to report non-emergency concerns like potholes, graffiti and malfunctioning traffic lights.

Using the app, you can select the issue, upload photographs and use GPS to pinpoint the problem’s location. You can then email the report to the city.

To report a concern on a road maintained by the commonwealth rather than the city, call 859-246-2059 or 859-246-2355.

Do you have a question about infrastructure in Lexington or elsewhere in Kentucky? We’d like to hear from you. Email us at ask@herald-leader.com or fill out the form below.
