Going to Chris Stapleton’s show? Don’t get towed. Parking not allowed on these streets
In an effort to lighten the traffic impact for Saturday’s Chris Stapleton concert at Kroger Field, the Lexington Police Department will be preventing cars from parking on certain streets near the stadium beginning Saturday.
Police said they will be posting no parking signs on Elizabeth Street, Crescent Avenue, Waller Avenue and Forest Park Road in preparation for the concert, which is similar to the parking restrictions during University of Kentucky football games. Vehicles parked on the roads with no parking signs will be towed beginning Saturday morning.
“There will be heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic around Kroger Field for the concert. Anyone traveling in the area should use extreme caution and follow all instructions given by officers,” police said.
The concert, titled, “A Concert for Kentucky,” has been in the works for two years. It was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show – the first concert ever at Kroger Field – will also feature Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and Madeline Edwards.
The show was initially slated for April 2020. But fans have had to hold off longer than that. Tickets went on sale in early October 2019, making the full waiting time for initial ticket buyers two-and-a-half years.
