Lexington ambulance involved in crash on Man O’ War, road reopened

A Lexington ambulance was involved in an accident on Man O’ War Boulevard Wednesday morning, according to Lexington police.

The accident happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on the outer loop of Man O’ War at the intersection of Helmsdale Place. Lt. Daniel Truex with the Lexington Police Department said the ambulance was running its lights and sirens when a vehicle attempted to pass the ambulance, which caused a collision.

No one was injured, according to Truex. The ambulance was able to drive away from the scene, Truex said, although the Lexington Fire Department said the ambulance did suffer some damage to the left side of the front bumper.

No one had been charged over the incident as of Wednesday morning, police said.

Mjr. Jessica Bowman with the Lexington Fire Department said the ambulance was responding to an incident when the collision occurred.

The right lane of traffic was blocked while officials attended to the accident, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center. The road was fully reopened around 7:15 a.m.
