One person dead after early morning interstate accident, Lexington police say
One person was killed early Monday morning after as a result of a single vehicle accident on I-75, according to Lexington police.
The accident was reported to police just after 3 a.m., Lt. Daniel Burnett said. The accident happened around the 110 mile-marker, where a vehicle traveling northbound ran off the road.
Only one person was in the vehicle during the crash, and they died at the scene, according to Burnett. A dog was also found in the wreckage and taken to the vet. The dog is expected to be okay.
Police didn’t say what led up to the accident. The collision reconstruction unit was on scene to investigate.
The interstate was shut down while police and the collision reconstruction unit investigated the crash. The roadway has since reopened.
