Updated: Collision knocks down utility pole, causes hours-long closure on North Broadway

A section of North Broadway was closed Wednesday morning after an earlier accident, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The road was reopened at approximately 11:30 a.m. after officials spent hours repairing a utility pole that was knocked down in a collision earlier in the morning, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center. The road was shut down between Fourth and Fifth streets while crews repaired the pole.

Inbound traffic was being diverted onto Fifth Street and outbound traffic was being diverted onto Fourth Street, the traffic management center said. At 7:15 a.m. Wednesday the traffic management center said Kentucky Utilities was progressing with the repairs but the road was expected to be closed for “several hours.”

The driver involved in the accident was uninjured, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.
