Bicyclist killed after collision involving vehicle near downtown Lexington

One bicyclist was killed Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle near downtown Lexington, according to police.

The accident happened sometime after 10 p.m. at the intersection of High Street and Oliver Lewis Way, according to Lt. Dan Truex with the Lexington Police Department. The bicyclist, a man, was transported to the hospital but later died.

The Fayette County coroner identified the bicyclist as Michael Hensley, 30. The coroner said Hensley was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m. from multiple blunt force injuries.

It’s unknown what led to the collision. Truex said no charges have been filed as of 8 a.m. Friday.
