Updated: Pedestrian seriously hurt after being hit by a car on N. Broadway in Lexington

A crash with injuries in Lexington caused first responders to shut down all inbound lanes of North Broadway Monday morning, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. Monday on North Broadway in the area of West Loudon Avenue and West Seventh Street, police said. A pedestrian was hit and suffered life-threatening injuries, Lexington police Lt. Dan Truex said.

An initial investigation indicated that the pedestrian was hit by a passenger car after walking into the road outside of a crosswalk, Truex said.

Police “don’t anticipate any charges being filed at this point,” Truex said.

Inbound lanes of North Broadway reopened around 8:30 a.m., according to the traffic management center.

Police diverted inbound traffic on North Broadway to West Loudon Avenue until the road reopened.
