Lexington police plan to restrict parking on State Street and in the surrounding neighborhood on game days throughout the rest of the University of Kentucky football season.

On Saturdays when the Wildcats are playing, Lexington police said there will be no parking from 8 a.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday on the following streets: State Street, Crescent Avenue, University Avenue, Forest Park Road, Floral Park and Elizabeth Street from Waller Avenue to Conn Terrace and Elizabeth Street from Waller Avenue to Floral Park.

Vehicles in violation will be towed, and police said in a news release that they’ll enforce “all parking ordinances, including a prohibition on parking in yards.”

A Lexington police spokeswoman said police will provide weekly updates in case there are changes.

Police began the policy after the UK-Florida game, when fans overturned a vehicle and set fires on State Street.
