Whether it’s shooting a breaking news scene like a longtime Lexington restaurant unexpectedly closing or diving into the Bermuda Triangle of Kentucky, visual storytelling interns help the Lexington Herald-Leader cover the city and Kentucky.
Interns come to Central Kentucky with a clear goal of what they will accomplish during their summer, sharpening their photography, video and editing skills. Our summer 2023 application period is open and you can apply here.
With the guidance of four veteran staff visual journalists, the summer 2023 intern will learn, grow, be challenged and be treated like a full-time employee.
Over 10 weeks, the paid visuals intern will have opportunities to produce print and digital stories on their own while also collaborating with an award-winning reporters and editors. The position pays $15 an hour.
Lexington is located in the heart of horse and bourbon country, about an hour away from Louisville and Cincinnati. But it’s also near some of the most picturesque hiking areas around with the Red River Gouge a short drive away.
