Five-car pileup on Alumni Drive sends seven people to the hospital, Lexington cops say

Seven people are in the hospital after a serious car crash in Lexington Thursday night, according to police.

The crash happened at the intersection of Alumni Drive and Yellowstone Parkway around 9:57 p.m., according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department.

A car ran a red light, causing a five-vehicle pileup, Anderson said.

Of the seven people taken to the hospital, one has life-threatening injuries, according to Anderson.

Collision reconstruction investigators probed the crash overnight. The roadway has since reopened.

No criminal charges have been filed but the investigation is still active and ongoing, according to Anderson.
