3-vehicle accident in Lexington leaves one driver with serious injuries, police say

A three-vehicle accident in Lexington sent someone to a hospital with serious injuries Monday afternoon, according to Lexington police.

The accident happened on Tates Creek Road between Laredo Drive and Wilson Downing Road at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department.

A vehicle traveling inbound on Tates Creek Road hit another vehicle and then crossed into the outbound lanes, where it hit another vehicle, Anderson said. The driver of the vehicle that started the accident suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Police didn’t provide an update on the victim’s condition Tuesday morning.

The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to a hospital.

The collision reconstruction unit is still investigating the crash to determine the circumstances of the accident, according to Anderson. The road was shut down while police investigated. The Lexington Traffic Management Center reported the road reopened at roughly 9:13 p.m. Monday.
