Man seriously injured after being hit by car on Leestown Road

A man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car Friday morning, according to Lexington police.

The accident happened around 6 a.m on the 3300 block of Leestown Road near Bradley Lane, Lt. Samantha Moore with the Lexington Police Department said. The pedestrian, an adult male, was in the road when he was struck.

The man was unresponsive when first responders arrived, according to Moore. He was sent to a hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, Moore said.

No criminal charges have been filed against the driver, according to Moore.

The collision reconstruction unit was called out to the scene to investigate. Moore said the road was fully reopened at approximately 7:15 a.m.
