Pedestrian suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit on I-75, Lexington police say

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Sunday morning after they were struck walking across I-75 in Lexington, police say.

Officers located an individual in the road around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday in the southbound lane of the interstate near the 108 mile marker, according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department.

Anderson said it appeared the pedestrian and one vehicle were involved, and the collision reconstruction unit was investigating the incident.

The accident shut down the southbound lane of the interstate for about an hour between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

As of 11 a.m. on Sunday, Anderson said there were no updates on the condition of the pedestrian, and that other details would be released by the reconstruction unit after their investigation has concluded.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
