One dead, one injured in Lexington car crash, police say

An early morning crash in Lexington left one woman dead and another injured.

According to Lexington police, emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision around 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Tates Creek Road and Garden Grove Walk.

The vehicle hit a tree in the median of Tates Creek, overturned and caught fire, Lt. Joe Anderson said.

Two women were extracted from the vehicle and one woman, Jessica Patterson, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The collision reconstruction unit is investigating the wreck.
