Woman killed after being hit by a vehicle in Lexington, coroner says
A woman in Lexington was killed after being hit by a vehicle Saturday, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office announced Monday.
The victim was 60-year-old Lynette Laine of Lexington, according to the coroner’s office. She died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital Saturday shortly after 11 p.m. Lane was a pedestrian, according to the coroner’s office. She suffered traumatic injuries to her head, torso and extremities.
Laine was a school nurse for Carter G. Woodson Preparatory Academy and Rise STEM Academy for Girls for approximately two years, according to Kevin Hall with the Fayette County Health Department. Laine had a nursing career that spanned more than 40 years.
The crash happened at the intersection of Sandersville Road and Atoma Drive around 11:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Guy Miller with the Lexington Police Department. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision, Miller said.
Lexington police are investigating the collision, the coroner’s office said.
