Lexington’s July 4 celebrations to include ice cream, concerts, fireworks, parade
Lexington’s July 4th celebrations will include everything from fireworks to a giant ice cream social.
“Our Fourth of July celebration is one of our biggest celebrations. It is rooted in American tradition,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “This celebration brings together our entire community to celebrate our city and our independence.”
The R.J. Corman Railroad site near the intersection of Oliver Lewis Way and Main Street will again host the launch of the fireworks.
“We have much to be thankful for, and we look forward to celebrating our country and our freedoms this next 4th of July,” said Ed Quinn, president and CEO of R.J. Corman.
The fireworks will be at 10 p.m. July 4 with events throughout the whole week. The full event listing can be found online at lexingtonky.gov/fourthofjuly.
Here’s some of the highlights:
July 1: Red, White and Blues, Moondance Amphitheater, 5:30-9 p.m.
July 2: Ice Cream Social, Henry A. Tandy Centennial Park, 2-4 p.m.
July 3: Patriotic concert by Lexington Philharmonic, Transylvania University and Gratz Park, 5-7 p.m.
July 4: Fourth of July Festival and Market, Henry Tandy Centennial Park, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
July 4: Bluegrass 10,000 and Fun Run, Corner of Main Street and Limestone, 10K at 7:25 a.m. and Fun Run at 8:30 a.m.
July 4: July 4 parade, Main Street, noon
July 4: July 4 fireworks, Main Street and downtown area, 10 p.m.
