Updated: Coroner identifies woman who was found dead on New Circle Road

A woman’s dead body was found on New Circle Road early Thursday morning, according to Lexington police.

The woman was identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office as 51-year-old Sheila McClintock, a Lexington resident. She died from multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of her death was pending further investigation as of Thursday.

Police received the report of the discovered dead body at 12:48 a.m., according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department. It found was at the Newtown Pike exit of New Circle Road.

It’s believed McClintock was hit by a car, Anderson said. The driver fled the scene and police didn’t have any suspect information available Thursday morning.

The collision reconstruction unit responded to the scene, according to Anderson. The inner loop of New Circle Road was shut down but it has since reopened.
