Updated: Lexington’s Richmond Road reopened after crash, downed power lines

Richmond Road has reopened after a crash knocked down power lines and caused the road to be shut down for about four hours, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The power lines were knocked down by a dump truck that was leaving a job site at approximately 10:15 a.m., according to Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department. The back end of the truck was still up and it struck the power lines, knocking them down.

The truck was traveling on Richmond Service Road, which is just off Richmond Road, near the Panera Bread. Nobody was injured, Anderson said.

Both inbound and outbound lanes of Richmond Road were blocked off between Patchen Drive/Old Todds Road and Mt. Tabor Road, according to the traffic management center. The access roads on both sides of Richmond Road were also blocked off, Anderson said.

That corridor of the road is just outside New Circle Road.

A Department of Transportation inspection was done on the driver and a citation was issued, according to Anderson.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
