Two people were seriously hurt Friday morning after a gas grill-related fire inside a food truck at the Kentucky Horse Park, a fire department official said.

Just before 8 a.m. Friday, the Lexington Fire Department was dispatched to the horse park for reports of a burn victim following a “gas explosion,” Maj. Derek Roberts, public information officer for the fire department, said Friday.

“When we arrived, we found two burn victims near a privately-owned food truck, both with burns to their lower extremities related to a gas grill fire,” Roberts said.

Both were taken to a nearby hospital and were in “serious condition,” he said.

The food truck where the explosion took place is a vendor at BreyerFest, a weekend-long festival showcasing a variety of horse breeds and Breyer toy-sized model horses. The food truck is reportedly called “B.G. Concessions” and sells items including corn dogs and lemonade, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.

Witnesses said other vendors helped the two victims after they exited the back of the food truck on fire following the explosion, WKYT reported.

A spokesperson for Breyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
