Lexington police are investigating after a body was found Monday night near Versailles Road.

The Lexington Police Department was notified that potential human remains were found about 8:42 p.m. July 17 near 2347 Versailles Road, according to Lt. Joe Anderson.

The body was in a tree-lined area and appeared to have been deceased for some time, he said.

There is a brushy area near a Central Bank branch location at that address, which is near the corner of Versailles and Alexandria.

No further description was immediately available. Any information is expected to be released from the Fayette County Coroner’s office.

The investigation is continuing, Anderson said.
