Updated: Man dies in early morning crash on a busy Lexington road, police say

One person died after an early morning crash on Richmond and New Circle roads which shut down Richmond Road for hours.

Lexington police were called around 2:50 a.m. Friday morning to the key intersection on one of Lexington’s busiest corridors.

The collision happened between a car and a box truck, said Lt. Samantha Moore from the Lexington Police Department.

Zachary Deak, 29, of Lexington died at the scene, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. No charges had been filed Friday morning but the accident was still under investigation, Moore said. No other injuries were reported.

Richmond Road reopened shortly before 7 a.m.
