Updated: Pedestrian killed after he was hit by car, Fayette County coroner says

A man was killed early Wednesday morning after he was hit by a car in Lexington, according to police and the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. on Nicholasville Road near Larkin Road. Lt. Samantha Moore with the Lexington Police Department said the pedestrian was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man later died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 67-year-old Donald Parker, of Lexington.

The coroner’s office said Parker’s manner of death was an accident. He was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m.

The collision reconstruction unit was called out to the scene to investigate, according to Moore. As of Wednesday morning, the driver involved in the collision had not been charged. The investigation was still ongoing.

The road was closed while the collision reconstruction unit investigated the scene, but it has since reopened.
