Fayette County residents who use city garbage services should put their trash and recycling cans out the evening before if their pick up is scheduled for Thursday or Friday.

Due to extreme heat predicted Thursday and Friday, city officials are moving up start times for trash pick up to the early morning for the next two days.

Commercial trash pick up will begin at 3:30 a.m. Residential trash pick up will begin at 4:30 a.m.

By starting garbage collection earlier in the day, city waste workers will be able to avoid the extreme heat and heat related illnesses such as extreme dehydration and heat stroke.

Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s Thursday and Friday, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.
