Updated: Downtown Lexington street reopened after crash involving a dump truck

A busy road in downtown Lexington has reopened Thursday morning after two dump trucks and a car were involved in a crash, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The collision happened on Main Street and Limestone around 9:38 a.m., according to Lt. Meredith Taylor with the Lexington Police Department. One of the dump trucks hit the car, causing it to rotate and become wedged in between the two dump trucks.

The driver was trapped inside their vehicle and had to be extricated, Taylor said. After they were freed they were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was blocked off between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Limestone. The road reopened at shortly after 10:30 a.m., according to Taylor.

The traffic management center described the wreck as an injury collision. Several first responders from the Lexington fire and police departments showed up to the scene.
