Updated: Driver arrested after fleeing scene of wreck after hitting Lexington fire vehicle

A driver has been arrested after allegedly hitting a Lexington Fire Department vehicle and fleeing Monday morning, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on the 1000 block of New Circle Road. Maj. Derek Roberts from the fire department said the incident was minor and no injuries were reported.

Hannah Sloan, a spokesperson for LPD, said investigators were able to find the suspect’s vehicle shortly afterwards by using the Real-Time Intelligence Center and Flock license plate readers. An 18-year-old was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.

the suspect’s arrest citation says she rear-ended the fire department vehicle in front of 1063 E. New Circle Road. The vehicle was later found abandoned and the suspect was arrested at her residence around 12:30 p.m.
