Coroner releases name of woman who died after being hit by vehicle on New Circle Road

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who died after being hit by a vehicle on New Circle Road late Sunday.

Jhonda Gonzalez-Perez, 56, of Lexington, was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 10:23 p.m. Sunday as a result of blunt force traumatic injuries, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

The crash happened at 9:41 p.m. in the 200 block of E. New Circle Road, which is near the intersection with Bryan Station Road. Lt. Meredith Taylor with the Lexington Police Department said the driver remained on the scene after the collision and was cooperative with police.

Taylor said charges have not been filed but an investigation remains ongoing.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to investigate, according to Taylor.
