House fire in Lexington’s Bryan Station neighborhood causes minor damage

The Lexington Fire Department extinguished a fire at a home in the Bryan Station neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The fire happened in the 600 block of Northside Drive, which is near Deep Springs Elementary School. Capt. Wes Watts with the fire department said they got a call from a woman who thought her house was on fire.

Firefighters saw a small fire outside the house near the porch when they arrived, according to Watts. There was also smoke coming from the gutterline.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, Watts said. Damage was minimal and there was some smoke damage near the attic area inside the home.

No injuries were reported and the woman living in the home won’t be displaced, according to Watts.

The cause and origin of the fire were under investigation Tuesday.
