Updated: Busy Lexington road reopened after crash that left 1 hospitalized

A major road going in and out of downtown Lexington was blocked off for about an hour Monday after a crash that left one person injured and caused a vehicle to flip over, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.

The wreck happened in the inbound lanes of South Broadway at the intersection of Waller Avenue, according to the traffic management center. Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department said a driver was trying to turn left onto Waller Avenue from the outbound lanes of South Broadway when they were hit by a vehicle in the inbound lanes of South Broadway.

One of the vehicles involved in the collision overturned, Anderson said. The fire department removed the driver of that vehicle from the wreckage and they were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The inbound lanes of South Broadway and Waller Avenue were shut down while officials cleared the scene. It repoened just after 9 a.m.
