Apartment fire in Lexington sends one person to hospital, fire department says

One person was sent to a hospital with injuries from a structure fire Tuesday morning, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

The fire happened at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Hill Rise Drive. Lexington fire District Major Derek Roberts said firefighters initially responded to a report of smoke but found a fire in an apartment when they arrived.

The fire was extinguished but one person was injured. Roberts said that person was transported to a hospital and their medical condition is unknown.

The occupants of at least one unit were displaced, according to Roberts. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
