Coroner identifies body found in pond near Tates Creek Road on Sunday afternoon

The Fayette County coroner has identified a body found in a shallow pond off Tates Creek Road in Lexington on Sunday afternoon.

Fayette Coroner Gary Ginn identified the remains as belonging to 64-year-old Ricky Williams on Monday afternoon. A cause of death has not been released.

The Lexington Police Department was called to the 3000 block of Walden Drive at about 3:40 p.m.

Battalion Chief Derek Roberts said the Lexington Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 4:36 p.m. to help recover the body, which was then transferred to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

“At this time, a death investigation is being conducted,” police department spokesperson Hannah Sloan said in a statement.
