Two injured in collision involving wrong-way driver, Lextran bus in downtown Lexington

Two people were injured Friday morning in a collision involving a wrong-way driver and a Lextran bus in downtown Lexington.

The crash happened at 12:08 a.m. West Main Street and Broadway. Lexington police Lt. Dillan Taylor said a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on W. Main Street and hit a Lextran bus at the intersection.

The vehicle and bus were occupied only by the drivers, Taylor said. They both were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the collision, the bus struck a building on the 400 block of W. Main Street. Taylor said the Lexington Fire Department inspected the building and cleared its structural integrity.

The road was shut down while officials investigated the scene, according to Taylor. The road has since reopened.
