Bicyclist dies after being hit by vehicle on Lane Allen Road in Lexington
A bicyclist died last week after being hit by a vehicle in Lexington, according to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn.
The crash happened Nov. 13 on Lane Allen Road near Garden Springs Drive, according to Kentucky State Police. A vehicle collided with a bicyclist near the intersection.
The bicyclist, a man, was transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was initially listed as seriously injured. He died the next day, Ginn said. The coroner’s office is expected to release his identity after his family is notified.
It’s unknown what caused the wreck. Lexington police spokeswoman Hannah Sloan said the Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the wreck, but charges are not expected to be filed.
It’s the second fatal collision involving a bicyclist in Fayette County this year. The first happened in August at Mason Headley Road and Beacon Hill Road.
There have been 31 fatal crashes in Fayette County this year, according to KSP data.
