Traffic alert: Connector street off Lexington’s Richmond Road to close starting Dec. 6
A section of a key connector street off of Richmond Road will close starting Dec. 6 and will remain largely closed for a week, Lexington city officials said.
The section of Squires Road between Richmond Road and Brookewind Way will close at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 and will remain closed throughout the weekend. On Monday, Dec. 9, the road will reopen at 6 a.m. but will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Friday, Dec. 13.
The road closure is part of a sidewalk project on Squires. The new construction will also improve drainage into the shopping center at the corner of Squires and Richmond roads.
There will be no access to Squires Road from Richmond Road during the closure. Drivers will be detoured from Richmond Road to South Eagle Creek Drive and Cove Lake Drive to reach Squires Road.
Drivers may use Shoreside Drive and Brookewind Way to reach the Lake Crossing neighborhood.
Squires is a popular shortcut, connecting Alumni Drive to Richmond Road.
