A man sustained life-threatening injuries when he was shot after a fight in a Lexington parking lot Tuesday night.

Police were called to the shooting on Alydar Court at about 8 p.m. and found that the victim had already left, driving himself to St. Joseph East, said Lt. Nate Williams, of the Lexington Police Department.

The man was then transferred to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital by ambulance.

Williams said the man was hurt when a physical fight escalated to shots being fired in a parking lot.

The person who shot the man stayed at the scene and was being interviewed by police Tuesday night, Williams said. Police had not yet determined whether criminal charges would be filed.

Alydar Court is off Darby Creek Road and Palumbo Drive, just over a mile from St. Joseph East.
