Lexington crash leaves one dead, shuts down road Tuesday morning

A Lexington man died Tuesday morning after a fatal collision at Iron Works Pike, Lexington Police Department officials say.

The crash happened at 2353 Iron Works Pike, between Mount Horeb Pike and Russell Cave Road. Lexington police Lt. Dan Truex said a car and box truck collided head-on.

The driver of the car was declared dead on the scene, Truex said. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Luis Noe Hernandez Rodriguez, 38.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the coroner’s office.

The driver of the box truck was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Truex.

Iron Works Pike was shut down between Mount Horeb Pike and Russell Cave Road, according to the traffic management center. The road has since reopened.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision.

Rodriguez’ obituary says he was a Mexico native and a longtime horseman and groom. He moved to Lexington when he was 21 and most recently worked at C & F Farm.
