Police investigating after infant dies in Lexington

Officials are investigating an infant’s death in Lexington Thursday, according to the Lexington Police Department and Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

Police responded to the 4000 block of Tates Creek Road shortly before 7 a.m. after receiving a report of a subject down. Police said a juvenile was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries and later died.

Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said the victim, an infant, died at University of Kentucky Medical Center.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed to determine a cause of death.

Police said an active investigation is ongoing.
