A ferry service connecting Fayette, Madison and Jessamine counties resumed services Thursday after being closed for more than three months.

The Valley View Ferry closed in late November for needed repairs and U.S. Coast Guard inspections of the car ferry service on the Kentucky River, at the end of Tates Creek Road in Fayette County.

The U.S. Cost Guard inspects all ferries.

The ferry passed its last inspection with the Coast Guard, and it began operations Thursday, according to a Facebook post.

The ferry had originally said in November it would be out of service for two months, but said the closure could be longer depending on needed repairs.

The current operating certificate is for five years. The ferry must also pass annual inspections by the Coast Guard.
