Three Lexington police officers recently helped a woman retrieve cash that had fallen into a storm drain, the police department announced Thursday.

The officers, Jedidiah Rash, Jeff Jones and Kyle Roberts were in downtown Lexington in February when the woman told them she was walking out of a bank when she dropped cash, and it fell into a street storm drain.

The officers took off the drain cover and used items in their cruisers, including a dog leash, to retrieve the cash.

The police department said the officers used quick thinking and teamwork during the retrieval.

“We want to thank Officers Jedidiah Rash, Jeff Jones and Kyle Roberts for their actions and dedication to Set the Standard of community policing,” police said in a Facebook post.
