Pedestrian hit by car, seriously injured on Alexandria Drive in Lexington

A pedestrian in Lexington was seriously injured Monday morning after being hit by a car, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The collision happened shortly after 6 a.m. on the 1300 block of Alexandria Drive, just north of Versailles Road. Lexington police Lt. Steven Wiggins said the pedestrian was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, Wiggins said. It was not immediately clear if the driver would face charges.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.

Alexandria Drive reopened around 8:30 a.m., according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center.
