Good vibrations will fill the air during the first announced performance at a highly anticipated Lexington park.

The Beach Boys will play a show on the CommonSpirit Health Stage at the long-awaited Gatton Park on the Town Branch, the park announced Monday. The show is set for Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Tickets will be available on Ticketmaster.com starting Friday, June 27, at 10 a.m. A pre-sale will open on Wednesday, June 25, at 10 a.m.

“Announcing the first show for Gatton Park is more than just a milestone for the venue — it’s a celebration for our entire community,” Brian Sipe, Oak View Group general manager, said in a news release. “This new outdoor space was created with Lexington in mind, and we’re proud to welcome families, friends and music lovers to unforgettable moments together.”

The Beach Boys will visit Lexington as part of “The Sounds of Summer” tour. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have sold over 100 million records and played more concerts than any major rock band in history, according to the release.

“Kicking off our season of announcements with The Beach Boys, America’s most iconic band and the soundtrack of summer for generations, is the perfect way to preview what’s to come,” Sipe said.

Original member and vocalist Mike Love will lead the group, alongside Bruce Johnston, Brian Eichenberg, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, Jon Bolton, Keith Hubacher, Randy Leago and John Wedemeyer. The show’s announcement comes on the heels of the death of original member Brian Wilson on June 11.

Premium patio tickets are currently available on Ticketmaster.com starting at $185. Premium tickets include:

  • Access to a private full-service Premium Patio Bar
  • Complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages
  • Guaranteed parking in the High Street Lot
  • Dedicated restrooms

Gatton Park on the Town Branch, a 10-acre park being built behind Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center, will open to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 23. The park, which broke ground in 2023, will feature a playground, splash pad, and walking trails along with live performances.

The park will be self-sustaining, earning profits from performances and other events. Gatton Park broke ground in 2023 and, as of May 15, had raised over $55 million.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to clarify that the Beach Boys are the first announced show at Gatton Park, but it may not necessarily be the first show held at the venue.
