Man on moped dies after collision on Russell Cave Road in Lexington

A Lexington man who was riding a moped died after crashing on Russell Cave Road on Friday afternoon.

Shaun Stamper, 47, was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m. after being injured in the collision at Russell Cave Road and Dixiana Domino Road, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The crash, which also involved a passenger car, happened at about 3 p.m., said Lt. Nate Williams of the Lexington Police Department.

Williams said the driver of the car stayed at the scene after the collision, and no charges are expected.

Russell Cave Road was closed between Ironworks Pike and Hughes Lane for several hours while police investigated. Williams said at 6:20 p.m. that the road was expected to reopen soon.
