Lexington firefighters were heading to a call before an unusual sound from their engine stopped them in their tracks.

It wasn’t a clanking, rattling or any other concerning noise that would halt most motorists. It was a faint “meow” coming from the engine compartment.

Firefighters searched the truck for the source of the noise and found Ash, a tiny gray kitten who had found shelter in the truck’s engine compartnemt, stowed away.

Ash has already found a forever home, according to a Thursday facebook post from the Fire Department.
