Man hit, killed by car on shoulder of I-75 South in Lexington

A man was hit and killed by a car Thursday on the shoulder of Interstate 75 in Lexington, according to the Fayette County Coroner.

Yunier Gonzales, 40, of Louisville, was outside his vehicle on the right shoulder of I-75 South when he was struck by a vehicle. His death was ruled accidental, according to the Fayette County Coroner.

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the 99.2-mile marker, before the Clays Ferry Bridge, according to Lexington Emergency Management. Police closed the interstate and diverted traffic for several hours on Thursday before reopening around 2:30 p.m., according to the Lexington Police Department.
