Pedestrian hit, killed on East New Circle Road in Lexington

A car struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday morning on New Circle Road, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened just before 6:15 a.m. on East New Circle Road, near the Winchester Road exit. The coroner’s office said the pedestrian was trying to cross the outer loop of New Circle Road when he was hit by a car.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office later identified the pedestrian as Micah Smith, 49.

Smith died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, according to the coroner’s office. His death was labeled as an accident.

The Lexington Police Department has not responded to questions for more information about the crash or whether they have made any arrests.

Lexington police are investigating the incident.
